Founder's Story

Bressante and Shop Prosthetics go hand in hand. Bressante came first to address the needs of women diagnosed with breast cancer. Shop Prosthetics was created to give women everywhere access to our products.

As far back as I can remember I have enjoyed making things. One of my fondest memories is hanging out in my dad’s workshop counting all the different kinds of nuts and bolts that were carefully stored in baby food jars, whose lids were attached to a block of wood. Years later when it was time for me to find a career, I like to say that “Prosthetics” found me. I became a prosthetic technician first and a clinician soon after.

Good design is essential if a prosthesis is going to enhance the wearer’s life. When I design a prosthesis for someone, I refer to human anatomy and try to mimic the bio-mechanics of the body as closely as possible.

"An excellent example of this way of thinking is the Bressanté breast prosthesis; a modular and versatile system that allows the user to adjust their prosthesis to attain the perfect fit."

The prosthesis filling can be changed to accommodate weight fluctuations or body structure. A Bressanté breast can be transformed into a swim prosthesis quickly and easily by switching out the everyday prosthesis filling for a swim filling. Although the Bressanté breast prosthesis is meant to be worn close to the body, against the chest for a natural feel, some may prefer to wear it in a pocketed bra or with a comfort liner. The comfort liner is hand washable and can be placed between the prosthesis and the skin to absorb perspiration.

The bras that we offer are very stretchy and soft with wide under bands for comfort. Each bra has been modified to fit a wide range of body types with adjustment hooks and pockets.

"Our bras and prosthetics are adjustable and we have priced our products so they are affordable."

We have been listening carefully to what our clients want and this little Canadian company has the ability and the desire to provide beautiful prosthetics that make sense, are innovative and beautiful. My dedicated team and I are here to serve you, the people out there that have been searching for an answer to their prosthetic dilemmas. You may be hoping to restore, equalise, enhance or protect. You may just want to dress up or rock a performance. We have your solution. is my gift to you. Bressanté breast prosthetics are just the beginning.
